I’m happy to say that I’ve signed up the rattery as a member of the American Fancy Rat & Mouse Association. I want to be a micro-breeder that focuses on breeding for happy and healthy pets, and AFRMA (despite having some show aspects to their association) has a lot of support and resources toward small-scale breeders focusing on areas like mine.

I’ve registered with the rattery abbreviation of FTHR and once I’m more comfortable with the quality of my litters will also ask to be placed on the published breeder list.

Presently at the rattery there is a week-old litter of a Bareback Dumbo/Agouti Standard line by healthy clean stock from an independent breeder in the interior. The litter is healthy and momma is doing a great job!

I have a second planned litter of Bareback Dumbo/Bareback Dumbo planned for the future as well. I’ll be looking to start collecting data on these first few litters to aid in selective breeding toward my goals. The pups themselves will be checked for health and temperament. Any that I don’t hold back will be sold under the FTHR tag as pets to the local area.
